How to Submit a Legal Specialization Judicial Service Tolling Request

Under State Bar rule 3.118(A) Title 3, Division 2, Chapter 2, and Article 2, “a certified specialist who serves full-time in a state or federal court of record as a judge, magistrate, commissioner, or referee or as an administrative law judge is exempt during the period of service from the annual fee required of a certified specialist and from recertification requirements.” 

1. Open the Legal Specialization Judicial Service Declaration Form.
2. Check mark your judicial service position. Sign and date the form, then save it on your device.
3. Fill out the Licensee Records and Compliance Inquiry Form to upload the completed Legal Specialization Judicial Service Declaration Form.
4. Under "Topic," select "Legal Specialization."
   Under "Issue," choose "I am now a judge; how do I pause or toll my certification?"
   
   
5. Provide additional details and enter "Toll certification request." 
6. Click "Upload Files," navigate to the folder where you saved your completed form, and select it. Then click "Submit."
7. You will receive a confirmation email after submitting the inquiry form. Once your judicial service form is processed, you will receive another email confirming that your certification is tolled.
