How to Request an Extension for Your Legal Specialization Area

  1. Log into the Applicant Portal: 
    The first step is to log into the Applicant Portal using your credentials. Do not create an account. Email LegalSpec@calbar.ca.gov to be provided with your login information.
  2. Navigate to Requests:
    Once logged in, locate the top toolbar and click on "Requests." This will take you to a page where you can initiate various types of requests.
  3. Initiate a New General Request:
    Within the "Requests" section, click on "New General Request." This is where you can start the process for any general inquiries or actions.
  4. Specify Request Details:
    Under the "Type" field, select "Legal Specialization Request." Then, under "Subtype," choose "Legal Specialization Extension Request."
  5. Enter Subject and Description:
    In the "Subject" field, enter "Request for Extension to Submit (Certification Application, Recertification Application, LSCLE Compliance Card)." In the "Description" field, provide a brief explanation of why you are requesting an extension and specify when you would like to have the submission completed.
  6. Save Your Request:
    After entering all the necessary details, click on "Save" to store your request securely. This ensures that your information is saved for processing.
