- Log into the Applicant Portal:
The first step is to log into the Applicant Portal using your credentials. Do not create an account. Email LegalSpec@calbar.ca.gov to be provided with your login information. - Navigate to the View Forms Section:
Once you are logged in, you will land on the home page of the Applicant Portal. Look for the "View Forms" option under “Apply” and give it a click. This will allow you to access State Bar applications and forms. - Find the Legal Specialization Section:
After clicking on "View Forms," scroll down to the bottom of the page. There, you will find the Legal Specialization section. - Select Your Specialty Area:
In the Legal Specialization section, locate the specialty area that corresponds to your examination pass, such as "Criminal Law Certification." Click on it to proceed. - Launch Your Application:
Once you have selected your specialty area, you will see an option to "Launch Application." Click on this to begin the application process for certification in your chosen specialization. - Complete the Application Form:
After launching the application, you will be directed to a page where you will need to enter various pieces of information. Click on the tabs provided on the left side of the page to verify and enter the required information for certification.
Note: If you have previously held certification in, or taken the exam in the desired specialty area, you must link your LS Certification Record. Go to “My Certifications” to find the LS Certification Record number. After linking your certification record, please choose the specialty area exam for which you are seeking to register for.
- Review and Verify:
Take your time to review all the information you have entered to ensure its accuracy and completeness. This step is crucial to avoid any delays or issues with your application. - Submit Your Application:
Once you have completed all the necessary fields and verified the information, it is time to submit your application. Click on the "submit" button located on the verification tab to finalize the process.
